The FCC has some pretty arcane and strict rules about nudity and foul language (but violence is acceptable because the religious groups want to allow themselves this option). So these rules apply to broadcast channels (channels that are sent over the air waves).
Many cable channels try to follow similar rules but they are actually not legally bound. They DO tend to limit this type of material to the after 8 pm time frame.

Because it's a show for adults and adult films, TV shows, ect, are allowed swearing.
The same reason profanity can be used when one sends multiple messages to another and does not want to receive messages back. It is called changing your settings . So that you too can receive a reply to your messages. PS I am fine thank you.
