At the end of the day there will be a couple of joke news items about weirdos who believed it.
The events predicted for 21 December 2012 are the solstice and Christmas shopping. Otherwise -
Since I am in Australia, and 16 hours ahead of the eastern USA, there will be a swarm of panic questions on Y!A about this from trolls, a few half witted adults and scads of dim-bulb children. By the end of the 21st in Australia, which will be around 8 am 21 December in the USA the panic on Y!A will just be taking off. By the dawn of 22 December in Australia he servers at Yahoo! will be burning their disc drives out as juvenile idiots across the North American continent keep posting this absurd question without noticing the fact that it has been posted only ten seconds before.
Only dummies and crazies will freak out. And get laughed at by everyone else.
Because everyone else knows that 2012 crap is just another doomsday hoax.
Q: What is the origin of the prediction that the world will end in 2012?
A: The story started with claims that Nibiru, a supposed planet discovered by the Sumerians, is headed toward Earth. This catastrophe was initially predicted for May 2003, but when nothing happened the doomsday date was moved forward to December 2012. Then these two fables were linked to the end of one of the cycles in the ancient Mayan calendar at the winter solstice in 2012 -- hence the predicted doomsday date of December 21, 2012.

"(Reuters) - If you are worried the world will end next year based on the Mayan calendar, relax: the end of time is still far off.
So say Mayan experts who want to dispel any belief that the ancient Mayans predicted a world apocalypse next year.
"We have to be clear about this. There is no prophecy for 2012," said Erik Velasquez, an etchings specialist at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)."

That the Mayans predicted it as the end is a misconception. There are people who believe that to be true though for various reasons and so it's impossible to predict exactly how those people will act. I'm assuming it'll be similar to the whole Y2K thing which was a big deal at the time but blew over when computers all over the world didn't die at the stroke of midnight.
Some may be wandering around like they're walking on eggs, but the vast majority will be going about their business as usual. Most (self inclusive) probably won't even think of any significance for the date IF the media don't go on an ALL OUT blab.
At one point i didi believe that the world was gonna end in Dec. 21 2012 but after doing research i found out that it was bullsh!t so i don't believe it anymore. Some people will be freaking out. And you will see people doing suicide because they don't want to see all the destruction. Yea its gonna be sad to see that.
Nope..the world was supposed to end in 2000.....oh what do you know it's 12 years later and someone said it's gonna end in 2012 now....like that's gonna happen...haha
Regardless if the world ends that day. I am still going to blow out my birthday candles as the world falls apart around me. ;)
The same will happen as when the millennium bug was predicted - absolutely nothing
no its not some people discovered another calender in some dudes hut that dated back to around the same time and it goes way beyond the 2012 time line its been debunked
Theres nothing we can do on that date but wait and see what will happen. Im probably gonna eat pizza and hang with my friends and family.
So, the world is predicted to end on this date ^^. I personally don't beleiv it will happen, but I am just curious. On that day, will everyone just carry on with their day, like it's nothing? Like will news stations, and radio broadcasts, just report normal news? Also, A LOT of people will probably have work that day, and there will be sporting events, and concerts and stuff. Do you think anyone will care? be honest (:
