If you are into aliens and monsters I would highly recommend this show.The first season is mostly monster of the week shows with a slow introduction to the main themes and mythology of the show.The second through the fifth seasons are some of the best tv ever.The sixth season while not as good as the first 5 is still good.It's the seventh through the ninth seasons that drops significantly in quality.When David Duchonvy was not the lead in the eighth and ninth seasons is when the show becomes a lot less interesting to watch.Unless you are really interested in the mythology aspect of the show and how it ends you can skip these seasons.

Yes, I really liked The X-Files. The last 2 seasons aren't as good as the first 7 but it is well worth watching.
No, I wouldn't recommend the X-files. It goes round and round and never gets anywhere. In the last ever episode they explained the whole thing and it took about five minutes.
Breaking Bad is pretty good if you haven't already seen it.
I just finished all of 24 and am now searching for the next great show to watch.
