Would you take offense to this 9/11 tribute?

I agree - a large heart does not seem to be appropriate. A different design would be better - something with a little more respect for those lost that day. Flags are okay but something to remind people of the complete devastation which is nothing to be proud of. Perhaps the flags spelling out "9/11" in some way with smaller flags among them. I am not good at design but the heart just doesn't seem right.

9/11 was a wake up call. That Americans are not as safe as they think and that their life could and always could have been taken at any moment. However I agree a heart shaped 9/11 thing isn't probably the best idea. It isn't intended to be bad but some people might take it that way.

Well to me it looks like your college loves 9/11.

"Happy 9/11" is kind of... insensitive. It's still better than the Muslims of America marching on DC though, guys I don't care what you believe but that is NOT the day to talk about how great Islam is.

I think they are trying to do something nice. I don't find anything disrespectful about it. Now, if they made it in the shape of an extended middle finger, that would be wrong.

They are doing this to pay their respects to those who were murdered on 9/11. What is wrong with THAT!!?? You're un ungrateful human being for not honoring those 3000 innocent people who died on that day. I wish you lowlife ANTI-AMERICANS (who've never cared about those deaths) would leave this COUNTRY!!!!

One of the most fitting tributes in my mind is this one-

My college is putting out flags in this huge grassy area. They wanted to arrange them in a giant heart with "9/11" in the center. IMO, it feels like those cute pink candy hearts that said "9/11" or a time when the announcer for my high school said "Happy 9/11 Day!!"

Do you think they should change the design? Maybe a simple "9/11" without the giant heart? Or is it fine and I'm just overreacting?
